I have a new TV show to my list of weekly watching list:
Chief and Commander
there is something about having a female American prime minister that it is so appealing that even a fictional sitcom about one is satisfying to some degree.
Sadly I beginning to think I will never see a female* prime minister of this country, or an openly same sex attracted individual or an indigenous prime minister in my lifetime.
*Amanda Vandstone doesn't count.

I don't know if you know this, but that show was just cancelled over here in the U.S. I think there's something sad about the fact that the only hook to this show was that the president was female, because that's supposed to be so outrageous. They expected people to watch just for the novelty. If the show were on for a little longer, the novelty could have worn off, and the idea of a female president would have been planted.
Oh nooooo!
And yes I know what you mean.
